Dr. Dow has been a full-time practicing psychotherapist for the past 15 years. After receiving his master's degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University, he started work at local human service agencies. In addition to extensive clinical work with individuals, couples and families, during this time Dr. Dow studied contemporary psychoanalysis and group psychotherapy as well as training extensively in cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Starting in 2004, Dr. Dow went back to school at the University of the Rockies to complete a doctorate in clinical psychology. His dissertation was a qualitative comparative study of mindfulness-based psychotherapies. He completed a year long internship in an integrated primary care, and has continued to work for various agencies providing psychological interventions for a wide array of health related disorders, including chronic pain, depression, insomnia and ADHD.
Dr. Dow has been an avid member of the Colorado Group Psychotherapy Society, serving on their board of directors, and helping to organize local conferences on group related topics.
For the past four years Dr Dow has done extensive training in PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) with Stan Tatkin, Psy.D.
Dr. Dow is also fluent in Spanish and has conducted psychotherapy in Spanish over the past ten years.
